Is there a difference between the online courses and the courses at school?

Our courses always take place on site and are additionally streamed via Skype for online students. This allows you to actively participate in the lessons from home with a microphone and webcam.

What is the difference between a regular course and an intensive course?

With a standard course you can complete one half of a level (e.g. A1/1) in one month. With an intensive course you can complete one whole level in one month (e.g. A1 = A1/1 + A1/2).

Is there a placement test?

Yes, you can find the test here on our website. It will help you evaluate your German language level. Just click on "read more". You can also take the test at our school. We are located at Capistrangasse 10, 1060 Wien and are open Monday – Friday, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Can I take an official language exam at your school?

Our courses will prepare you for the ÖSD exams. At the end of each course we will conduct a practice test. The official exams take place at a partner school. We will provide you with the needed contact information.

Do I get a certificate when I finish the course?

Yes, at the end of your course you will get a certificate which states the completed language level and the total hours of your training.

How many people take part in one course?

Our courses have a maximum of 12 people.

Is there a way to make up for a missed lesson?

There won’t be extra classes, but our teachers will provide you with the discussed materials and exercises for you to practice at home.

Do the teachers explain things only in German or also in different languages?

We will help you in English if needed and furthermore use, especially in beginner courses, a lot of pictures, dictionaries and other materials to teach German the best way possible. But note that some students don’t speak English therefore we try to keep it to a minimum.

Can I get a visa with your German courses?

Yes. Please pay half of the course fee in advance. Then we’ll send you a confirmation of your payment. Please send this confiramtion to the Austrian embassy of your country yourself. Meanwhile, you also have to apply for a visa. In our experience the Austrian authorities will issue a visa if you sign up for one of our courses. But since requirements may vary in different countries, we kindly ask you to find out for yourself. In case you are being denied a visa, we’ll send you back the money with a deduction of 150 € for our efforts.

What does A1, A2, B1, B2,… mean?

Those acronyms refer to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Where do the students come from?

Our participants come from all over the world. We already taught students from over 80 different countries.

How old are the students?

Participation in our courses is possible from the age of 13. Our oldest student was 92 years old. In average our students are between 25 and 35 years old.

Do the books used in class cost extra?

Yes, the books used in class are not included in the course fee. One book is around 20 €. You can buy them in the bookstore across the street called “LifeBooks”. We use the following books:

Will the confirmation of a booked german course be accepted when applying for a visa?

Yes, but please double check if you need a passed exam. The exams take place in partner schools.

Are there other events taking place?

Twice a month we have a meetup called “Deutschcafé”. Everybody is welcome, active students and alumni. We meet in a relaxed atmosphere, sit down with a cup of coffee or tea to talk, practice german and get to know each other better. Information about the date and place will be announced in time.

Are there additional services?

We offer free Wi-Fi, free coffee and tea, a library with textbooks and a school with perfect location in one of Austria’s biggest shopping streets.

Is the school open on public holidays?

If there is just one public holiday in a month, the lesson that day will not take place and there will be no alternative date to make up for the lesson. If there are two ore more public holidays in a month, one of those days the lesson will take place, the other won’t. Around Christmas and New Year the school is on a two week holiday break from 23 December to 5 January.
